| To
strengthen the training of the crew and meet the requirement
of future fishery development , the fishing training center
planned in 1986 to build a modern multi-purpose training
ship with 1200 tons to replace the out-of-date one ,No.1 Yu
Shiun .in order to faciliate the plan , the center also
invited scholars and specialists on shipbuilding ,fishery
,navigation and marine engineering to compose a special
project group for proceeding the matters of the new ship
construction in April 1987. This
engineering was undertaken by Taiwan Machinery Manufacturing
Corporation on June 14,1989 under the supervision of
the Dept. of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
of National Chen Kung University .the total price for
building the ship was NT$327,500,000.By The authorization
of the Council of Agriculture ,this training ship was
named” No.2 Yu Shiun”. The engineering was commenced
on Oct. 20, 1989 and completed on dec.21, 1990.

| The
crew member of this training ship is 21 persons. The ship
is well equipped with many new navigational instruments
which allow 4 instructors and 52 students to practice
long line fishing ,squid fishing ,trawl net and drift
net operation and to engage in the practice and training
of navigation ,marine engineer professional technology
of officers and crew , but also bear the responsibilities
of investigating fishing grounds, improving fishing gear
and fishery method, oceanographic observation, ect. The
completion of this training ship will effectively increase
the training effect of officers and crew and promote the
development of Taiwan’s fishery. |
