Characteristics

�@�@This crew training ship in addition to the basic equipped with various kinds of other new equipment to meet the requirement of the future fishery development and Internationl Convention. The characteristics of the training ship are described as follows:

(1) Energy-Saving ship

�@�@the main and auxiliary engines with energy-saving merit approved by the Energy Committee of Ministry of Economic Affairs are adopted for the ship and a large diameter controlable-pitch propeller with low RPM is used. They can operate under the most economic situation to match all kinds of operative conditions. Besides, the ship has fuel treatment and preheat equipment which can burn the low quality fuel and reduce the operational cost. For general fishing ships of the same class, the main engines of 2800-3000HP are usually equipped to ther. However, with the design , the main engine of this ship has only 2,200 HP and it may save about 30%energy.

(2) The Design of ship Hull:

The ship is the first one in Taiwan which meets the requirement of International Convention Concerning the Safety of Fishing Ship Stability .The design of the double-layer open deck makes the ship structure strong and solid .The damage stability was also calculated. Several kinds of remote control devices are equipped to prevent disaster from getting worse and provide the ship with high stability to meet the damage stability requirement ef International Maritime Organization. Furthermore, its optimum bulbous bow and underwater tern verified by the resistance and oblique tests can increase the ship speed an make the rolling motion small and stable. With regard to the indoor equipment, they are designed to match with the need of the comfortable living environment according to economics. All rooms are constructed with fireproof materials and equipment with central air condition system, fire alarm system and Halon 1301 fire extinguishing appliance in engine room to increase the safety and comfort of living

(3) Navigation and Fishing Equipment

1.According to the regulation of GMDSS to be effective on Feb. 1 , 1992 the ship is equipped with ARPA,GPS,INMARSAT ,FAX,VHF radio telephone ,MF/HF radio station, life boat .life raft, EPIRB. Two-way wireless telephone and new navigational communication equipment which meets the requirements of SOLAS(International Convention on Safety of Life At Sea )
2.The ship has fishing requirement like long line tuna fishing equipment, squid fishing equipment , trawl net and drift net as well as oceanographic observation and fishing grounds research equipment abroad it . Besides, it is equipment with computer system to control the fishing operation . The system can perform functions such as statistics and analysis on long line fishing grounds, conditions on the sea ,amount of catches , the simulation of fishing gears formations under water, ect . During the fishing operation, the ship speed can be controlled directly
by control on the navigation bridge to match the fishing operation , Besides, the new fishing equipment like 360�Xcolor sonar, 180�Xspecial sonar , current observation equipment, Doppler speed meter, satellite navigator, and maneuvering in formation device , is installed on he ship , can not only provide professional trainings on navigation, fishing, Marine engineering, and communication , but also increase the safety of fishing operation.

(4) Marine Engineering

1.The main engine in the engine room can be properly operated trough remote control in the navigation room and control room or besides the engine .The performance diagnosis computer system is equipped to record the operating condition of the main engine for the operation and maintenance . With these equipment, the power of the main engine can be breakdown can be avoided and maintenance fee can be reduced . The generator engine can be adjusted according to its load and can start, stop and parallel-run automatically.
2.The super-precise lubricating device can lengthen the life of lubricant up to 30,000 hours without changing lubricant. It can reduce the pollution of waste oil. Furthermore, the oil and water separator , and the anti-fouling equipment are installed to prevent the sale accumulating in the internal watwe channel of machine, and the requirement of International Convention on the prevention of pollution can met
