I. About the Fisheries Agency(before unified: Fisheries Administration)
According to the constituent act of the Fisheries Agency(FA),the Council of Agriculture that the staff should be deploy 210 employees. As the highest fisheries policy making agency in the Republic of China, and was begen on 1st August 1998, by upgrading the department of Fisheries in the Council of Agriculture. The director-general is responsible for the all fisheries business, assisted by two deputy director-generals and a Chief Secretary. There are the Planning division, the fisheries regulation division, the deep sea fisheries division, the aquaculture and coastal fisheries division, the deep sea fishery research and development center, the Secretariat, the accounting office, the personnel office, and the civil service ethics office, for providing governmental services in fisheries in the Agency. Taiwan Area Fishery Radio Statio is also under the supervision of the Fisheries Agency. Total have 180 executives recently.
The FA's mission. As follows :
- Drawing up and supervision for the fisheries policy, laws and regulation, project, plan.
- Research and planning for the fisheries science, prevention and treatment of the public disaster.
- Management and monitoring for the vessel and crewmen (fishermen).
- Operation, coordiation and encuragement for the fisheries surveillance.
- Assistance on guide and supervision for the fishermen association and fishery organization.
- Planning, supervision and training for the fishermen, the exntension member of the fishermen group and fishery group.
- Supervision and coordiration on the distribution and proceessing of the products, fishermen's welfare, fisheries financial market.
- Assistance on the foreign base ports of the staff.
- To make plans for the international fisheries cooperation, promoted and coordinated for the foreigh affair and port site.
- To making plan, promote, monitor and coordiate on the fisheries resource conservation and cultivate management, survey and research, evaluation and acquaculture fisheries.
- Planning and supervision on the fishing ports and the public facilities.
- Analysis on the statistics of the fisheries production and computer manipulation, information.
- The others and related governing on the fisheries and fishermen.
