In order to meet the epidemic SARS prevention requirement and to maintain domestic epidemic preventive safety, the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. sets the following into action constructively that fishing ship captains should pay attention to their crew's health condition anytime since April 1, 2003. All of them should fill out "the epidemic SARS prevention survey" when they reach the harbor, the operated fishing vessels and fishing vessels inhabited for Mainland China fish labor should be all disinfected. Moreover,to avoid SARS infection from Mainland China crewmen, Council of Agriculture has announced that vessel owners have to suspend hiring new Mainland China fishing labor in April 29, 2003. Council of Agriculture has announced "the epidemic prevention measurement of crew members against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)" in May 1, 2003. They have also made some amendments to the announcement in May 2, 2003 and in May 6, 2003. In addition, Council of Agriculture announces that fishing vessels or crew members who are involved smuggling or illegal immigration will receive cumulative penalty.Demand county and city governments will publicize the regulations that crew members can not get into the port of Mainland China, incontact with Mainland China fishing vessels and involved in smuggling or illegal immigration since May 5, 2003.

County and city governments execute "the epidemic prevention measurement of crew members against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)." According to the statistic data on July 24, 2003, zero oceangoing fishing vessels that entered the local transmission areas had been monitored in the past ten days. A total of 1,263,458 crews who entered and left the fishing port had undergone body temperature measurement and none of them were infected. The number of vessels that left for Mainland China fishing labor and had been disinfected is 879. The number of fishing vessel and fishing port have been disinfected is 59,069 vessel-time and 1,958 port-time individually.
